Morson Review Leads To Shuffle

MANPOWER services group Morson International has announced extensive reshuffling at board level.

Current managing director Ged Mason has been promoted to group chief executive. Kevin Gorton, who has worked for the Eccles-based company for 15 years and is the former head of business development, will replace Mr Mason as managing director.

Neil Dunthorne becomes aerospace director and David White takes up a directorship position at the firm’s southern branches. The changes form part of a major review of the operational structure of the Morson Group. Sister company Morson Projects, which provides in-house engineering design services, has also announced three new recruits – Steve Seddon becomes executive director, Chris Burke has been appointed operations director and Mark Lawton financial controller.

Speaking about the restructure, Mr Mason said: “Growth over the last two years have seen us achieving turnover of £225m. The appointments allow us to concentrate on growing the business, to look at overseas markets, deliver our three-year plan and target £500m turnover in five years. The new people are largely assuming roles that they have been doing for the last twelve months and they are finally getting the recognition.

“The changes will also allow us to manage recent contract wins. We’ve won a number of major contracts with various operators including Network Rail, Metronet Rail in London and the aeronautical and engine divisions of Rolls Royce.”

Strategy

On his own position, Mr Mason commented: To go from MD to CEO isn’t much of a change for me, but obviously having Kevin there will free me up to concentrate on strategy growth and expectations.”
