Opened yesterday, by the renowned Manchester United Manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, the new Engineering Centre at Weavers Court will undertake specialist Aerospace and Defence Engineering for Morson clients including Bombardier Aerospace, Airbus, GE aviation (UK and US), Aermacchi (Italy) and Rolls Royce, supporting 150 engineering positions in the region. As well as Aerospace Engineering, it is anticipated that the new centre will provide a focus for engineering support for the new aircraft carrier (CVF) programme in Belfast.

Supported by Invest Northern Ireland, part of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, Morson has opened the new centre close to universities who are carrying out leading edge research in Aerospace and Defence technologies and educating the next generation of design engineers.

Commenting at the opening of the centre Ged Mason, Chief Executive of Morson, said;

This mirrors the Systems Engineering Centre of Excellence (Midlands Engineering Centre) set up by Morson Projects next to the NEC in Birmingham.
